Palm Deal Cranks Up Competition in Enterprise Market (NewsFactor)
The acquisition of Extended Systems will enable Palm to provide both handheld computers and enterprise-class mobile infrastructure software and support for multiple operating systems. This means Palm will be able to enter the markets of key competitors -- including Pocket PC, Windows CE, EPOC, and RIM.

Compaq introduces 64MB iPaq handheld (CNet)
Compaq Computer on Friday unveiled two new iPaq handhelds, including one equipped with 64MB of memory. The company also announced the release of dual PC Card expansion pack for iPaq handhelds.

Verizon Attempts To Jumpstart Smartphone Market (NewsFactor)
A new wireless service for next-generation smartphones is on the horizon in the United States, thanks to Verizon Wireless, which said it soon will offer a Web-enabled, Palm OS-powered handset that combines the features of a PDA (personal digital assistant) with the connectivity of a wireless phone.
